The million-dollar denim question this fall is, “are skinny jeans over”? For a solid decade, they have dominated our closets. We wore them every which way. We wore our tops and sweaters over them, we wore them with blazers, we tucked them into our boots, we wore them with heels, we wore them with our ballet flats and sneakers, etc.etc. You name it, we did it. They were the only jean silhouette that the fashion set wore.
However, these days all I see are images of everyone wearing kick flares, cropped flares, frayed-cropped jeans, and boot-cut trends. I hardly see any celebrities, street-style images, and magazines showcasing skinny jeans. Yet, retailers are still showing and selling them. All of this can be very confusing! Truth is, skinnies will never completely go out of style because they are a classic silhouette. Skinny jeans are a good staple in every woman’s wardrobe and will always be current. This season they may not be the“it” girl’s first choice in jeans, but skinny jeans are still very modern and are keepers!
How to keep your skinny jeans on trend this fall
- Pair them with a velvet boot.
- Consider wearing a dress over them.
- Try them with this season’s deconstructed tops.
- Wear them with sweeping long coats.
- Keep them paired with smart blazers.
